INVEST IN YOURSELF!

INTRODUCTION

Over years, this statement or clause: "INVEST IN YOURSELF." had been used as a motivation for the purpose of human's growth in all ramifications.  This article principally intends to unravel and edify us that this statement is more of motivation and is never restricted to (monetary meaning). Though, this monertary meaning is the most common mentality thousands of people are having on "INVEST IN YOURSELF." But there is still a need for bringing up this intellectual discourse to unravel this shallow mentality as a wake up call to all and sundry. 

THE KEY CONCEPT

INVEST: On a literal definition of this word as given by Merriam Webster, "to commit (money) in order to earn financial return." Although, it is a good thing to commit oneself and time to pure monetary things. But the beauty of this word: "INVEST" is never limited to monetary gains and purposes. But there is a deeper meaning attached to this word: "INVEST." as seen in another definition by same Merriam Webster. But it is more deeper and wide in scope. It is defined as: "to make use of future benefits and advantages."

So, because of this and to fully  appreciate the key concept in this article, we shall take a look at the types of INVEST as masterminded by this writer.

3. MATERIALISTIC INVESTMENT

1. Business Investment: This could be explained and understood by using the first definition given by Merriam Webster. Because, the overall aim of venturing into businesses is to make profit and not loss. So, in most cases, this profit is monetary in nature. That is, it will bring in money as turn over or returns. 

This type of investment is commonly found amongst "business men and women." It is encouraged, but another type of investment is better than it. Because, "Money is not everything. But it is something good for existing," I said.

So, the profit which is monetary value is in most cases "personal." even if you are the CEO of the company. You have the totality of finance control. You only pay your workers peanuts which might not source them riches let alone growing others' dreams.

This is also the reason I once said that: "My money is my money. You money is your money. We work for it individually."

2. Educational Investment: This is a type I called "all-rounder investment." Yes, my potential readers, this is encompassing. It covers wide range of ramifications. Amongst the people found under this category are: entrepreneurs, motivational speakers, and other professionals in one field or the other.

 Dated back, people who are to strive, thrive and achieve under this category were always ready to invest they had. They invested their precious time, not to personally benefit themselves with monetary value. But more importantly, to growing others' dream and get them achievements far better than riches.

Generally, people found under this category are: Alexander Graham Bell; Michael Farady; Alvan Thomas Edison; Elon Musk, Jack Ma, J.K Rowling; Hellen Keller Prof.Wole Soyinka; Chinua Achebe; Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche; Les Brown; Brian Jordan; Michael Jordan;

3. Materialistic Investment: This type is worldly in nature, so as the people found under it. We now live in a noisy world full of distractions. A world where our youths are supposed to be working on themselves for growth purpose but choose to working on what will take away growth and fulfillment from their lives. So sad!

The men an women who have even reached meno pause stage are still found under this category. People having families to feed and grow were seen feeding and growing their body, clothes, garage; among others, more especially, ladies and women.This is the highest degree of absence of wisdom and reflection.

The shallow mentality of mediocrity of these categories is that they can attain happiness, special honour and fame from other people but the reverse will be the case at the end of their life. For example, we have seen a young boy of 22 years of age buying G.Wagon; Rolls Royce; cars of over millions. They would think that are eating up life but life I eating them up unknowingly. But it is sad that most of their families hardly survive and eat the three square meals per day. So painful!

In conclusion, from the entire discourse and explanations in this article, we are expected to figure out the type of investment that is mostly the best or the two of its types that are good for our growth and existence:Business and Educational. But we should be more focused of the latter because its benefits would FOREVER remain as a legacy capable of changing the world and bringing POSITIVE CHANGES into our lives. 

But on a contrary, the last type is destroying. Although, it can bring a temporary happiness into our lives but it will surely bring a permanent sadness and absence of growth and achievements into our lives.
